SEM Guide: Generating Leads for your Business

Do you know?

“On average, businesses earn $3 in revenue for every $1.60 they spend on AdWords.”

SEM is the most effective way of getting traffic to your business………

Do you know why?

People interested in buying a product or service will search for a keyword on Google and then make their buying decision.

I will give you a heads up before even going. Further, search engine marketing (SEM) can be quite frustrating compared to display ads or brand awareness campaigns.

Why do you think it’s expensive?

SEM is a bidding process. The more you are willing to spend, the higher you rank!

Also, there are plenty of businesses out there trying to rank to the top on the same keyword as you are……..

So, this works the same as a bidding process. The more you are willing to invest, the more you get out of it.

Advantages of SEM:

  • If you are a new business, SEO might take some time, but SEM (Search Engine Marketing) can help you rank and improve your website visibly.
  • It can help you rank easily as compared to SEO.
  • Only pay for the clicks you receive.

The question that now comes into our minds is, how can we do it effectively, and what is the process?

I will try to guide you through search engine marketing that is done through Google ads.

So, Let’s begin at…………

In my previous blog, I briefly explained how to sign up for Google ads and what is the process of Google ads in general.

In this blog, I won’t focus on setting up your ads account because you already know that.

After you are logged into your account, click the plus (+) icon on the left.

Next, you have to create a new campaign.

Before creating s campaign, have a clear understanding of your goal and then click the desired campaign.

Let’s say I want to create leads to add Marketing Habs?

What are the steps to create a Leads ad?

As you can see, there are multiple campaign types from which you can select.

But we are focusing on SEM, so after clicking on the search campaign type, you will have to enter your website to begin.

Now comes the step that we all have to be careful about.

Many of us make a mistake that we shouldn’t. Selecting a goal that you do not want or is not good for you might cost you a lot.

As I am creating a campaign for “Marketing Habs,” I want my visitors to fill lead forms so that I can reach out to them and send my blog emails to get in touch.

In my blog that I wrote about Google ads account setup, I briefly explained the process of location targeting and other basic detail that we need to set up Google ads to stress that.

What I suggest here to create multiple campaigns and, under them, try creating multiple add groups.

You will be wondering why?

As most of us want to get maximum out of our ads by minimizing the risk adding multiple ad groups might help you.

I have a blog site. What I can do is create 2 campaigns:

  1. Search/Website traffic Campaign.
  2. Blog Ads Campaign.
  3. Leads Campaign.

Website Traffic: Initially, when your blog is new, you need to get a lot of traffic to the website in general so people can understand your business and act accordingly.

My Website has 4 to 5 main page categories such as SEO, Digital Advertisements, and Content Marketing….

What I can do is create four subs add groups under website traffic campaigns and run them.

This will allow us to know which page is performing better how many of these pages need to be improved.

Blog Ads Campaign:

Another campaign that I suggest is a blog promotional campaign. As we all know, writing a blog, a good blog, is not enough. Promoting is an integral part of it.

Ad multiple adds groups under the campaign and then promote every single blog in that campaign.

I know that sounds way too expensive for a new blogger.

What you can do is try adding those blogs that you know have the potential to get more traffic.

This will allow your business to get more leads to form fill-ups, which might get you potential leads.

Lead Ads Campaign:

Lead ads is a simple process as others; you have to create a lead campaign and choose the goal.

After you have chosen your desired goal, create multiple add groups as we did in previews campaigns.

When creating add groups under any campaign, keep in mind that you shouldn’t only adjust location or designs to know which of these ads are performing better but try to know other factors, such as adding extensions and keywords.

Many businesses that opt-in for different ad groups focus on adding different keywords to know what keyword group performs better on search.

After you know which ad group performs better, you can use those keywords and apply them to all other campaigns.

You can also change in add groups is the design or videos and the keywords to know if your design was flawed or not…..

Keyword Research:

Keyword research is an integral part of creating search engine ads as they are focused on search queries.

So what can we do proper keyword research for creating the best performing search ads?

Many platforms/tools can be used to find the best keywords according to their search volume and keyword difficulty.

First, Let’s find keywords that can be used in your ads.

Some helpful tools:

  • Keyword tool.io
  • Google auto Suggestions
  • AnswerthePublic
  • Quora
  • Google Keyword Planner

After finding your long-tail keywords try adding them on Google keyword planner to know their search volume and competition.

What you need to do is try using keywords with high search volume and low competition.

Once all is done, try creating an a. CSV file that can be uploaded to Google ads.

Conclusion:

Clearly, the process that I have explained above might seem easy, but it’s not.

It involves a full-fledged research process to set up a successful SEM Campaign.

So, in the end, what I suggest is to change 2 things in Google SEM ads to know what add group is performing better.

Many other things can be changed, such as location, but these 2 are most likely to affect the change.

  • Keywords
  • Designs

After keeping in mind all these steps, you are good to go.
